About
A native New Yorker, Ted eschewed a job at a white-shoe firm in New York City to take a gig as an entry level Oil and Gas Attorney in East Texas sight-unseen. One of the true miracles of his life was trading sky scrapers for the Piney Woods. He will be forever grateful to his first boss in the industry who initiated him by requiring the performance of every task required on a project, from imager to leasing agent to negotiator to Landman, before allowing him to touch his first Title Opinion.
In the decades since, Ted worked the toughest plays in the country and built a reputation for untangling the most complex title issues and grew a well respected practice in the energy heartland along the way. This experience culminated with the founding of Hans and Associates, PLLC, which operates with a zealous focus on solving hard problems with good clients, working with good people, and without the overhead and distractions that come with scale.
Ted earned bachelor degrees in History, Political Science and English Literature from McGill University and his Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School with a concentration in Estate Planning, Real Property and Tax.
Ted is a member in good standing of the Oklahoma, Texas and New York State Bar Associations, the Mineral and Energy Law sections of numerous states, the Oklahoma, Tulsa, Dallas and Fort Worth Association of Professional Landman and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.
Ted has formerly served on the board and as General Counsel of the DYRK1A Foundation (US) in its infancy and he and his wife remain steadfast supporters of their mission. In his free time, Ted and his wife Kaylee are the proud parents of four wonderful (perpetually busy) teenagers. Much of the family’s free time is happily spent supporting sports, school activities, therapies and relishing in the small daily blessings (and lessons)
that matter most.
